The Aussiedoodle Breed

The Aussiedoodle is a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Standard Poodle, both of which are considered Canine Einsteins. The Australian Shepherd brings loyalty, drive, and intelligence into the mix. The Poodle matches those traits and adds a curly, low shedding coat. Aussiedoodles are friendly and make a great addition to families who enjoy outside activities. They are are medium to high energy dogs and thrive with a job and room to roam. Aussiedoodles are not couch potatoes. Coat traits depend greatly on the generation (F1, F1b, F2, F2b, etc) and the percentages of Aussie vs Poodle in individual puppies. While many believe that Doodles are hypoallergenic, all dogs produce dander and dander is what upsets allergies. Aussiedoodles require frequent grooming (every 6-12 weeks depending on owner preference) and with frequent grooming comes low shedding, well maintained coats.

Let's breakdown the Aussiedoodle Generations:

First generation (F1): Australian Shepherd + Poodle. This generation will have loose, wavy coats and vary widely for shedding and allergy friendliness.

First Generation Backcross (F1b): Aussiedoodle F1 + Poodle. This Generation will have wavier to curly coats and are more consistently low shedding and allergy friendly.

Multi-Generational: Aussiedoodle + Aussiedoodle (greater than 3 generations). Multigens have wavy to curly coats and are usually very low shedding.
